DGN Seeks Partnership with NYSC on Capacity Building for Corps Members – NYSC 2025
The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) has expressed its readiness to partner with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in equipping Corps Members with vital creative and digital skills..
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, the President of DGN, Mr. Uche Agbo, emphasized the guild’s commitment to youth empowerment through training in digital content creation, storytelling, and mentorship.
Agbo noted that the collaboration would provide a platform for Corps Members to showcase their talents while nurturing their interests in the creative industry. He explained that the first phase of the initiative, under the guild’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), would kick off with sensitization programmes during orientation camps across the country.
“Our aim is to groom young Nigerians who are passionate about film and creativity, and help them build sustainable careers,” he said while presenting the proposal to the NYSC Director General.
In response, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the NYSC Director General, commended the DGN for considering the Scheme as a partner in youth development. He highlighted the NYSC’s long-standing role in shaping young Nigerians for over 52 years through character moulding, leadership building, and national unity.
“The Scheme is passionate about skills empowerment for Corps Members because they are talented, innovative, and need the right platforms to thrive,” Nafiu stated. He added that the creative industry’s involvement would further strengthen the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He assured the visiting guild that the proposal would be carefully considered, stressing that collaborations like this would add lasting value to the lives of Corps Members.
