General Nafiu Calls on NYSC Discipline and Reward Officers to Go Digital – Nysc 2025
In a bid to strengthen transparency and efficiency within the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has charged all Corps Discipline and Reward Officers nationwide to fully embrace digital tools in carrying out their duties..
The Director General made this call during a Technical Capacity Building Workshop in Abuja, themed “Equipping Heads of Corps Discipline & Reward with Technical Skills on Their Role on the NYSC Integrated System.” The workshop was designed to give officers hands-on training in digital processes that support the NYSC’s operations.
Speaking through the Director of Legal Services, Barrister Chris Ogar, General Nafiu highlighted that NYSC, as a forward-looking institution, is already leveraging digitization to improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability. He urged officers to use the technical knowledge gained at the workshop to optimize their roles within the NYSC Integrated System.
“As Heads of Corps Discipline and Reward, you are expected to maintain accurate and timely reporting of cases, ensuring no data is lost. Uphold the highest standards of discipline, fairness, and accountability in managing Corps Members,” the Director General emphasized.
He also reaffirmed NYSC Management’s commitment to continually upgrading officers’ skills and providing the necessary infrastructure for seamless digital operations.
Mrs. Aminat Arunah, Director of ICT, in her welcome address, stressed that the days of manual processes are over. With growing demand for real-time reporting, transparency, and data-driven decision-making, she noted that digital competence is now essential.
“Our roles must be supported by robust digital skills, guided by policy reforms, and aligned with the Scheme’s overall mandate,” she added.
The workshop underscored a clear message: NYSC is going digital, and its officers are expected to lead the charge becoming champions of transformation across the country’s secretariats.
