Governor Soludo Sacks Vigilante Officers Over Assault on NYSC Corps Member, Orders Prosecution – NYSC 2025

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has taken decisive action following the assault of a female Corps Member in Anambra State. The governor ordered the immediate dismissal of eight members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group who were accused of attacking and publicly humiliating Miss Jennifer Elobor, a serving Corps Member.

According to reports, the vigilante officers allegedly stripped and assaulted Miss Elobor in a disturbing incident that sparked outrage within the state and across social media platforms. The governor, in response, described their actions as “barbaric, unacceptable, and against every principle of human dignity.”

In addition to their dismissal, Governor Soludo directed that the culprits face prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others who may abuse positions of authority. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to the protection of law-abiding citizens, including Corps Members serving in the state under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

“The safety of Corps Members in Anambra remains a top priority. No one has the right to take laws into their own hands or subject young Nigerians on national service to such humiliation,” the governor said.

The incident has since drawn condemnation from rights groups, youth organizations, and the general public, many of whom are calling for swift justice for Miss Elobor.
