Legal Reminders (Yes, It’s Serious)

NYSC is not just a rite of passage—it’s backed by law. Here are two things you should never do:

  1. Don’t skip your service. If you fail to report for duty as directed, you risk prosecution under Section 13(1a & b) of the NYSC Act.
  2. Don’t fake your status. If you try to participate in NYSC without being eligible or after receiving an Exemption/Discharge certificate, it’s a serious offense under Section 13(2a & b).
