NYSC Condemns Assault on Female Corps Member in Anambra – NYSC 2025

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has expressed deep concern over the brutal assault of a female Corps Member by operatives of the Anambra State Vigilante Group in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area..

In a strongly worded statement, the Scheme described the attack as “unacceptable and dehumanising”, stressing that no justification could excuse the manner in which the operatives carried out their operation at the lodge where Corps Members were accommodated.

The NYSC management acknowledged the outrage of Nigerians following the viral video of the assault and commended the swift intervention of the Anambra State Government, which has since arrested the vigilante operatives involved. It also reaffirmed its confidence in the ongoing investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, expressing hope that justice will be delivered to the victim and any other Corps Member affected.

Beyond seeking accountability, the Scheme disclosed that administrative measures are being taken to provide medical, psychological, and emotional support to the Corps Member who suffered the attack.

Reiterating its unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of young Nigerians in service, the NYSC assured parents and the general public that the safety of Corps Members remains its top priority.
