Big Brother Naija 2026 Day 5 Live Update (Season 5)

BBNaija Day 5 Recap: Ricky Clears the Air With Neche, Arena Games Begin

Day 5 in the Big Brother Naija house brought wager post mortems, kitchen drama, a near clash, and Ricky finally explaining his fallout with Neche.

The dust may have settled on Team Nurture’s wager loss, but the conversations certainly haven’t. From debate breakdowns to kitchen banter, budding tensions, and a refresher on Biggie’s house rules, the Show Ya Sef housemates had plenty to unpack as they eased into Day 5.

8:00am: Wager Post Mortem and Housemates Open Up

The day began with Head of House Chimsom Chuka gathering the housemates in the lounge for a housekeeping briefing, including instructions to gather bed linens for washing. Once that was sorted, some housemates got busy cleaning while others settled into deep conversation.

Upstairs, Abi and Araga shared a heartwarming chat about the origin of his name. Araga explained it came from his surname, before revealing his dream of becoming a proud girl dad to two daughters one day. Their conversation later shifted to how housemates were gradually coming out of their shells, with Abi pointing to Gerard as someone who started off reserved but has become far more expressive.

Elsewhere, Bells and Oyin revisited Team Nurture’s wager performance, trying to pinpoint what cost them the win. Their conclusion? Too many “ogas” (leaders) on the ladies’ team made it difficult to work together.

Meanwhile, Chimsom Chuka, Gerard, Kamsy, Neche, and Ricky discussed what they believe Biggie really expects from wager presentations. Ricky suggested the ladies leaned too heavily on glamour and theatrics rather than the substance of the debate.

9:00am: Kitchen Reviews and More Wager Reflections

Breakfast quickly turned into a food critique session when Sheba gave Temi Nkem feedback on her custard, suggesting it needed a bit more water for the right consistency. Undeterred, Temi Nkem confidently announced she’d be cooking noodles for the entire house the next day, prompting Sheba’s hilarious response: “Can you leave us out of this, do we have to do this?”

For someone who admits she isn’t much of a cook, Temi Nkem certainly isnt giving up on her culinary dreams.

Later, Abi and Sheba revisited the wager loss too, agreeing that some teammates simply didn’t take the debate seriously enough.

10:00am: Recovery Mode After the Pool Party

Following the previous night’s pool party, several housemates opted for a slower start, catching up on sleep while others got ready for the day. Flora spent time discussing her upcoming talent showcase with Keivo, while in the garden, Sheba admitted to Nomy that she was still struggling to get over the wager defeat, calling herself a sore loser.

11:00am: Nominations Talk, Near Clashes, and Biggie’s Rulebook

The garden buzzed with conversation as Chimsom Chuka, Goddessa, and Ricky imagined how chaotic the house would become if Biggie revealed nomination choices to everyone. Chimsom Chuka joked it would be even worse if housemates could watch the nominations live and see exactly who nominated who.

Elsewhere, Temi Nkem and Tram had a brief disagreement after Tram made a comment about “having the last laugh,” which Temi Nkem interpreted differently. Ever the drama lovers, Bells and Flora jokingly egged the pair on to fight.

Back inside, Chimsom Chuka gathered everyone for another briefing, reading out Biggie’s house rules on handling kitchen utensils properly, avoiding communication with the Ninjas, and refraining from using sign language with fellow housemates.

12:00pm: Ricky Explains Himself While Flora Defends Her Wrapper

Still trying to make sense of his fallout with Neche, Ricky sat down with Chimsom Chuka, Martins, Sheba, and Temi Nkem to explain how a simple misunderstanding over beds and sleeping arrangements spiralled into a much bigger disagreement.

Elsewhere, Oyin approached Flora with an unusual concern: whether tying a wrapper around the house violated Biggie’s dress code. Flora quickly defended her outfit choice, insisting it didn’t count as lingerie or nudity and therefore complied fully with the rules, making it clear she’d have a problem with anyone suggesting otherwise.

1:00pm: Clearing the Air and Fresh Food Drama

The afternoon opened with Chimsom Chuka and Bells finally addressing tension left over from Wednesday’s clash, after Bells accused the Head of House of enforcing rules selectively. The pair seemed determined to put it behind them.

Meanwhile, a new food related issue was brewing. Sultex pointed out to Bluethopia that she seemed unusually emotional about the situation after she complained to him and Sheba about how Barry served the meal he’d prepared. Bluethopia wasn’t happy that, despite informing Barry the day before, she ended up with the bottom of the pot.

2:00pm: Flirting Allegations and Mixed Signals

Abi and Goddessa found themselves discussing Barry, with Goddessa playfully calling him a flirt and pointing out that despite cooking for the whole house, he hadn’t made any special effort for her.

Moments later, though, Goddessa’s attention shifted elsewhere. She was seen lying beside Araga with her leg casually resting on him, leaving fans wondering whether the pair are back on track after their recent rocky patch.

3:00pm: Bluethopia Finally Decides to Eat

After a ranting session with Chimsom Chuka and Sheba about Barry and her food woes, Bluethopia finally sat down to eat alongside Nomy, a change of heart after initially rejecting the meal.

4:00pm: Prep Begins for the Season’s First Arena Games

The Show Ya Sef housemates received their customised jerseys as excitement built ahead of the season’s first Friday night Arena games, with everyone eager to see who would come out on top.

5:00pm: Friday Night Arena Games Begin

Biggie welcomed the housemates into the Arena and laid out the rules for the season long competition: every Friday, housemates will face challenges testing their cognitive and physical abilities, with weekly top performers rewarded and an overall winner crowned at the end of the season.

6:00pm: Temi Nkem Leads Things Off

The search for the King and Queen of the Friday night Arena games kicked off with Temi Nkem, who tackled the four rounds but got buzzed out after ten minutes. Aikou followed and also failed to finish in time. Oyin powered through in 7 minutes, 49 seconds. Keivo, Nomy, Araga, Neche, and Mercedes all beat Oyin’s time, but Barry remained the one to beat, finishing in a blistering 2 minutes, 23 seconds.

7:00pm: Sultex Takes the Lead

Cassi, Kamsy, Gerard, Goddessa, Martins, Flora, Ricky, Bells, Tram, and Bluethopia competed next, but it was Sultex who stole the show, setting a stunning record time of 2 minutes, 9 seconds.

8:00pm: Chimsom Chuka Wins

It’s a week of wins for HoH Chimsom Chuka, who emerges as the season’s first champion of the Friday night Arena games. Elsewhere, Nomy and Temi Nkem have a candid conversation, with Nomy airing her grievances about Ricky and Temi’s involvement in the matter.

9:00pm: Yusuf and Bells Get Closer

Yusuf opens up to Bells about the sting of not securing a single win in his first week in Biggie’s house. Bells reassures him and encourages him to stay optimistic. The pair get cosy in the garden, their conversation drifting from fellow housemates to relationships and beyond.

11:00pm: Nomy Opens Up to Goddessa

Following her earlier chat with Temi Nkem, Nomy turns to Goddessa to talk through everything that happened, seeking a second opinion on how to handle the situation.

Another jam packed day in the Big Brother Naija house proves that between wager fallout, food drama, budding romances, and the season’s first Arena games, Show Ya Sef never runs out of gist.
